    ​The Director of the Engineers Authority Branch: We have signed agreements with various companies to localize 1200 engineering professions


    The director of the branch of the Saudi Council of Engineers in the Eastern Province, Eng. Abdul Latif Al-Absi confirmed that the branch seeks to achieve cooperation with the business sector in the region to serve both parties and advance the engineering profession, pointing out that the authority aims to advance the engineering profession and everything that would develop and raise the level of the profession and its employees.

    Al-Absi explained during the monthly meeting held on Tuesday evening, September 7, 2021, which was moderated by the Secretary-General of the Chamber, Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Wabel, that the branch contributed to exposing many cases of abuse related to academic certificates, pointing out that the authority laid the foundations and standards for practicing and developing the profession, including licensing conditions. Setting the rules and examinations necessary to obtain professional degrees, preparing studies and research, organizing courses, holding seminars and conferences related to the profession, and providing technical advice in its field of competence following the regulations approved by the Board of Directors of the Authority.

    Regarding professional accreditation, Al-Abbasi said that it aims to check scientific certificates and ensure their validity, prepare and administer tests and professional interviews for engineers, classify engineers according to professional grades according to their abilities and professional competence, and follow up on continuing professional development for engineers before promotion and communication with professional and international bodies to develop professional work.

    He said that the branch contributes to raising the standards of professional practice, developing social and professional relations between members in the branch's work area, evaluating membership services, qualification, and registration for professional accreditation, as well as providing technical, administrative, and financial support to the engineering people and committees, facilitating their work procedures, following up on cases and disputes and carrying out professional accreditation for engineers.

    He also indicated that the engineering offices aim to regulate the practice of the engineering profession and licenses for engineering works and to implement a system that qualifies licenses to practice engineering activity according to the licensed engineering field and to determine engineering fees and find solutions to standardize them according to the engineering field and classification.

    During the meeting, Al-Absi reviewed some statistics, as he revealed that the authority has 194,144 thousand registered engineers, 148 thousand technicians, 3099 engineering offices at the level of the Kingdom, 385 engineering companies, and 188 training centers contracting with the authority, explaining that the authority’s branch in the eastern region signed several agreements with different companies to localize 1200 engineering professions.​
